Bye Bye Baby Blues

download preview

The tune is based on “Bye Bye Baby Blues,” by the great blues guitarist Little Hat Jones. It is a beautiful and simple 16 bar folk melody played against a steady alternating bass. The three verses of "Bye Bye baby" is a great example of a steady alternating bass line with some ideas on how to create variations in the melody. The first verse states the melody and verses two and three are variations.Try playing more than one note at a time with your thumb by brushing the bass strings.  This gives the song a strum-like feel and creates a fuller sound and a more rhythmic pulse to the alternating bass.
